Privacy
What we collect, and what we do not.
Short, because there is not much to tell. This site sets no cookies, runs no advertising and tracks nobody across the web.
Who we are
IIMEA is the International Institute for Medical Education & Advancement. It is not yet an incorporated company, so the people responsible for your information are its two founders, Mr Alexander Trevatt and Dr Gethin Lewis, acting jointly. They are the data controllers for the purposes of UK data protection law.
This page will be updated to name the company once IIMEA is incorporated.
You can reach us at [email protected] about anything on this page.
When you visit this site
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see whether the site is reaching anyone and whether it is working properly.
It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. That is also why we have not shown you a consent banner: there is nothing on your device to ask you about.
It records, for each page view:
- the page you asked for, and the site or search engine you arrived from
- the country you are in, worked out from your IP address
- your browser and the general type of device you are using
- how quickly the page loaded for you
Cloudflare states that it does not use your IP address, your browser signature or anything similar to build a fingerprint or identify you as an individual. We do not attempt to either, and we have no way of connecting a page view to a named person.
Why we are allowed to do this: our legitimate interest in understanding whether a site we run is working and being read. You can object to it, and the section on your rights explains how.
When you email us
Writing to [email protected] means we hold your message, your email address, your name and anything else you choose to tell us. Our email runs on Google Workspace.
We use it to reply to you, and where you are talking to us about joining a community or becoming a Founding Expert, to keep track of that conversation properly rather than losing it.
Why we are allowed to do this: our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, and in running a recruitment and enquiry process that does not repeatedly ask you the same questions.
We do not add you to a mailing list because you emailed us, and we do not sell, rent or share your details with anyone for their own purposes.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies at all. There is no banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Who else handles your information
Two suppliers process information on our behalf, under contract, and neither is permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- Cloudflare hosts this site and provides the analytics described above.
- Google provides our email through Google Workspace.
Both operate internationally, so your information may be handled outside the United Kingdom. Both provide the safeguards UK data protection law requires for those transfers.
How long we keep it
- Analytics. Cloudflare holds this for a limited period and then discards it. We keep no separate copy, and none of it identifies you.
- Email. We keep correspondence while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete it. If you would like your correspondence deleted sooner, ask and we will.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it over in a portable form. You can object to us processing it on the legitimate-interest grounds described above.
Write to [email protected]. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right, but that is your choice, not a condition.
Changes to this page
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date below changes too. We will not quietly widen what we do and leave this page saying otherwise.
